With increasing competition in the shipping industry, EIPL has systematically introduced professionalism in its business activity to cater to customer needs.

At EIPL we have introduced latest state-of-the-art communication systems in all our offices which are periodically updated to achieve optimum utilisation.

In the past there were great constraints in timely berthing of vessels. Work performances were tardy leading to delay in turnaround of vessels. We have successfully structured our manpower planning to remove constraints in transit of vessels and improve work performance. Presence of technical representatives from our principal have been extremely helpful and we have provided necessary gears and equipments on-board vessels for speedy operations.

Besides serving in the Benjap region for several years, last year the company has entered into the market for granite exports and have loaded vessels with this commodity from East Coast of India for Far East destinations. We have successfully built up a private granite stock yard at Chennai with modern amenities for export.

In the year 1998-99, EIPL has handled a record number of 100 vessels surpassing all achievements made in the last 46 years of its existence as a premiere Shipping Agency house. Most of these vessels were handled in Calcutta, Haldia, Vizag, Chennai and Paradip. Out of these 100 vessels, 67 were operated by our most valued principal. M/s. Eastern Car Liner Ltd., Tokyo and the balance by our prestigious principal namely M/s. Myanmar Five Star Line, Myanmar, Bangladesh Shipping Corpn., Bangladesh and others. The coming year will be a great challenge for further improvement of our customer service.
