About Us
Everett Steamship
Corporation S/A, founded in Sanghai in 1917 was an American owned
organisation. Since its inception, the organisation operated as a
shipping agent but gradually the Head Office was shifted to Manila
and with opening of new branch offices in other Asian ports it started
operating its own ships and managing others on behalf of overseas
owners.
During World War II, Everett lost all its owned ships to enemy
action but with prompt reopening of the office after the war, old
principals returned and alongwith newly purchased vessels, both
the management and General Agency business were reestablished.
The first Indian Branch of Everett Steamship Corpn., Manila started
functioning in Calcutta from July, 1953.
In May 1955, ESSC vessels were sold to Everett Orient Linc Inc.,
registered in Liberia and the Calcutta office was converted into
an agency office.
The Bombay Branch office was opened in 1956 and the Delhi office
in 1961 for adequate shipping coverage and Government Liaison work
and also for the purpose of promoting Travel and Tour business.
This was followed by opening Branches at Madras in 1994, Haldia
in 1995, Vizag in 1996 and at Paradip in 1998.
The Indian business was required to dilute its foreign share holding
by Indian participation and accordingly Everett (India) Private
Ltd. was incorporated on 25th April, 1977 with effective operation
from 1st May, 1977.
